MiCiM launches DEI strategy to establish industry leadership

At MiCiM, we recognise that our strength lies in our employees’ diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. However, we recognise that women and individuals from diverse backgrounds are underrepresented in the engineering and construction sectors compared to other industries.

We want to lead our industry in opening doors to diverse talent and ensuring that everybody feels welcome and supported in their careers. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategy represents our commitment to fostering an environment where every employee feels valued and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives, and it establishes a plan to achieve this.

MiCiM is part of the Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR) scheme and we have champions within the business who promote its principles. We support all our leaders, managers, employees, and staff members to embody the principles of diversity and inclusion in their everyday roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, we publish our annual sustainability and ESG report which also shows our commitment to constantly develop, monitor and improve our DEI strategy.

Our DEI strategy’s goals:

  1. Enhancing workforce diversity: Increasing representation, especially in leadership roles.
  2. Fostering an inclusive culture: Creating a workplace where diverse perspectives are actively sought and embraced.
  3. Promoting equity in career development: Ensuring fair access to mentorship, training, and promotions for all employees.
  4. Building inclusive relationships: Reflecting our DEI commitment in our interactions with clients and communities.

By embedding DEI into our daily operations, we aim to contribute towards a more inclusive industry and society, as well as spurring innovation and delivering success for clients. Our plan to achieve our DEI goals includes:

  • Ensuring our recruitment process attracts candidates from all backgrounds and avoids unconscious bias.
  • Partnering with educational institutions, local community and industry groups to support diversity and access to opportunities within MiCiM and the wider sector.
  • Providing DEI training within our business and support dialogue.
