University of Reading visit MiCiM site!

MiCiM were joined by 6 construction management undergraduates from University of Reading last week, who joined us for an in depth tour of our current Data Centre project in Slough.  We were able to showcase a live Data Hall with permission from our client, Cyxtera, who offered to guide the students alongside former Reading University student and now MiCiM Project Manager, Martin Butcher.

The project consists of an upgrade to the infrastructure associated with the ground floor white space additional generators, transformers, chillers and package plant rooms are being installed externally. Internally two new power streams are to be created, consisting of LV switchgear, static UPS’s, static transfer switches, PDUs, CRAH units and ancillary services.

The students were extremely enthusiastic and engaged with our team, being the first Data Centre environment they’ve ever experienced.  We were able to give them a better understanding of how Data Centre’s work, which sparked a lot of interest for future placement opportunities with MiCiM!
